My Recent Trip to Mont Blanc!

I recently had an amazing experience hiking around Mont Blanc. Despite having undergone nine foot surgeries, the last one in late April, I managed to hike, I think, between 80 to 100 miles over 10 days. Hearing my kids complain and cry during the hike, but loving it at the end, was great to watch. It was fulfilling to see them accomplish something they didn’t think they could.

My wife, who is German and excellent at planning, organized the entire trip. We went from hut to hut, hiking all day, usually for about eight hours. Each evening, we’d arrive at a hut, have a nice dinner, maybe a glass of wine, and then we’d just want to fall asleep.

There’s also an ultra-marathon around Mont Blanc, and an American just won it this year, which is cool. The views were absolutely gorgeous. I highly recommend this hike. It’s very approachable and not as daunting as it might seem. People could certainly do it or just visit some of the towns and do shorter hikes around them.

I feel very fortunate to have had this experience. Hiking is one of my greatest passions, and I’m hopeful that my feet will allow me to continue enjoying it for a long time.
